I took my polar to the Lloyd center a few weeks back, and they have a repair
person at one of the big stores (I can't believe I already forgot, but it
might be Macy's) I just asked the first jewler and they directed me there.
It was around $10-$15 for the repair, and it was nice to avoid all the
mailing back and forth to polar. I have since gone swimming with my watch
and it has been totally fine.

I think Polar HRM need to be sent back to the manufacturer for battery
replacement, if you care about the warranty. Not 100% sure about this,
but I believe it goes for both chest straps and watch units, so check
with the place you bought it from before attempting to do it yourself.
