re-gluing Tubulars

Hello Dan.

If you're careful with removing the tire, it should be pretty much an "until the tread wears out or a flat that sealant can't fix" situation. The issue will be making sure you don't tear the basetape when removing the tire; you'll want an unglued gap (typically at the point directly across from the stem) to make it easier to get under the tire. As you're working the tire iron along, check often to make sure you don't inadvertently get between the basetape and the tire instead of the basetape and wheel.

After the tire is off clean the wheel but bear in mind that all of the existing glue doesn't need to be removed. In fact, it's better to leave (allow to build up) a slight bed of glue which aids adhesion.

Make sure to store the unused tires in a good location, I'm guessing slightly inflated (to hold shape) and cool and dark with no dust. I wouldn't store a tire folded up, but that's just me.

When gluing the tire back on, make sure that you use the thinnest practical layer on the basetape. It's adhesive, not spackle, and a thick layer is actually counter-productive.

Hey OBRA landers
How many times can you reuse/re-glue a tubular tire? I have a set of wheels I use for cross and Im thinking of using them on the road in the summer, but that would mean swapping tire spring and fall how many times can you do that with a set of tires?
What say you all?
Thanks
