Subject: Tigard Criterium- Cancellation Notice- Please Read
To All-
In a concerted effort between race promoters, we have elected to cancel the Tigard Criterium for this year.  In order to provide the best possible racing to the Oregon peloton, we are electing to throw our support to the Volkswagen Stumptown Criterium this year. It's a marquee event on the Oregon racing calendar, and we want to see the event flourish so it will be back in successive years.  Plus (total disclosure here), we want to be there ourselves!
Please go out and support (by racing and/or watching) with us!  More info on the Volkswagen Stumptown Criterium can be found here:  http://portlandcriterium.com/
The criterium racing scene has experienced a resurgence in the past several years, and we would all like to see that continue.  The ultimate goal in race promotion is a carefully coordinated race schedule that provides both the best and the most opportunities for OBRA licensed riders to race their bikes.  We promote races because it's fun and we love the people and the scene we support.
Thank you all for your support.  We look forward to both races being back on the calendar in 2015!
Respectfully,
The Tigard Criterium
If you're inclined to keep reading(not req'd), here is a further description of our motivation and ultimately our decision to cancel:
We originally scheduled the Tigard Criterium on what appeared to be an open weekend.  The Stumptown Criterium proceeded the same way.  Through the contracting and permitting efforts, it just so happened that both races were scheduled on the same day.  In an effort for the races to co-exist on the same day, we originally "inverted" the schedule at the Tigard Criterium to enable the Pro/1/2 racers to race twice on Sunday.  However, that still did not take into account the masters and other categories being able to watch a premier event like the Stumptown Criterium.  Quite simply, we don't feel it's in everyone's best interests to test allegiances, etc.- we just want the best events possible for all.  The fact is that there just are not enough criterium racers to support two events on the same day for right now. Therefore, we hope to see you all at the Volkswagen Stumptown Criterium on Sunday!
