Double Cross Updates #3 - Juniors and younger!

Jeff Lorenzen

2014-09-02

Double Cross will have two full days of racing for licensed Juniors, as
well as events for the younger kids. Our Sunday race is race #1 of the
Oregon JCS and High School Series, so you won't want to miss that. We'll
also be running the same JCS categories and start order on Saturday, and
all 8 Junior scoring categories will be eligible for the Double Cross
two-day trophies. We have medals for the top three in all eight categories
each day.

For the youngest kids (3-6 or so), we have the Kiddie Kross event both
days. We'll have a little course and will run heats based on type of
bike/age. All participants will get a medal and a cookie from Packer's
Cookie Stop. Best of all - we have authentic cheerleaders from HRVHS to
support the littlest racers!

The in-between kids (7-9 or so*) will ride one guided partial lap of the
course both days. This will be at 12:20, *either right before the Junior
start or right after the final group*, depending on the choice of the
judges. Please listen for the announcement regarding the start order.

The non-sanctioned events are free for all kids, but you must sign a waiver
and we will be collecting donations for Lila May Schow, a local 4 year old
battling neuroblastoma.

I'll send out more updates as we get closer, and of course you still have
time to register for Het Meer and Fazio Farms!

As always, we hope to see you in the Hood!

Jeff

*without sounding like a jerk, please be realistic about what your little
Nys/Vos can really ride. Insisting that your child can ride the race
course on his/her strider is dangerous and puts the promoter in a really
awkward position.
