Subject: Alpenrose renovation

If you are planning on riding the velodrome this year you better get down
there this week as we are going to be moving forward with the next stage of
the renovation, possibly starting this coming Friday. This stage is going
to replace the apron below the riding surface with new smooth concrete,
replace the crumbling concrete on the riding surface below the measurement
line, address drainage problems and add a pad in the center of the track for
building a starter's platform/storage shed.

This is going to be an expensive project. About twice what replacing the
straights cost. Alpenrose Dairy is going to front the money to do the
project. The Portland Velodrome Committee fund is going to put up some of
the costs up front but we need to ask for donations to help offset the
remaining costs. Alpenrose Dairy have been tremendously supportive of bike
racing in Oregon. In addition to having the velodrome, they host the
storage area and physical location for OBRA's operation as well as providing
the site for the Cross Crusade and Blind Date cross races as well as many
training sessions. They do all this without receiving a single dollar.
This is a chance to pay them back.

Donations can be made though the OBRA.org web page, directly at
https://obra.org/orders/38884/edit. OBRA is a 501(c)(3).
