Alpenrose - 2 Important Messages

Thanks for the reminder Joe, I put in for the velodrome. We are very fortunate to have one so easy to use compared to some other places and most cities don't have a track at all. How depressing!
I agree about not frightening the neighbors at least until halloween...

1) Payback: Geez, Mike and Candi are so low key in their solicitations, that I forgot to contribute to the Alpenrose Repair Project - until now. If you also forgot, it's not too late. Just Go to https://obra.org/store and fill in the simple form. Every donation helps - even $1 donations. As you may know, the owners of Alpenrose have advanced $75,000 for phase two of the Velodrome repair, which is now complete in time for our final two Blind Dates and first two Cross Crusades. More important, Alpenrose Dairy serves as a central depot for OBRA's trucks and containers full of race gear, at no charge to us. Bottom line: Alpenrose subsidizes our racing and asks for nothing in return. Please join me in some payback!

2) Share the Road: At last night's Blind Date, a polite neighbor complained to us that on Illinois Avenue, Blind Date warm up riders surrounded her car, inserting her moving family car into an elbow-to-elbow, warm up peloton. She and her kids found this frightening and disturbing. I am sure that no one did this intentionally. However, we bikers need to share the road with cars - especially around race venues like Alpenrose. Cross Crusade will be at Alpenrose for its first two races this year. Let's try to ride single file, be mindful of neighborhood folks and give lots of right of way to cars!

Thanks. -Joe
