CRUSADA - Technical Report - PIR Infield Regressions

Mr. Technical Director,
Good work performing a tough task, but...
While the cat is away....the mice (or Clydes) might play. It looks as
though they might play even when Mr. CRUSADA Tomcat is strutting around the
course marking his territory. Will CRUSADA bring the hammer down on the
Clydealikes? "Barton smackdown" straight ahead Crusaders.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] CRUSADA - Technical Report - PIR Infield Regressions

Hear ye, Hear ye, followers of the *Biggest* cyclocross category of the race
day.

As cyclocross followers across the region and nationally were aware when
CRUSADA ( Committee to Reduce Underweight Sandbagging AND Deliberate
Antagonism ) stood down during the Washington County Fairgrounds Cross
Crusade (26 October 2014 - http://obra.org/posts/109588 ), anecdotal
improprieties were reported of a foreign racer sandbagging the
Clydesdale/Athena race using taped-on hams and bacon (see racer # 799, Hugh
Ford, http://obra.org/events/22449/results#race_536367 ).

Because alleged transgressions occurred the very INSTANT that CRUSADA
vigilance against the scourge of underweight sandbaggers (U.S.) slackened,
the rigors of CRUSADA have since been redoubled.

Evidence of this increased vigilance have borne fruit: the CRUSADA
Certification of results regarding the Clydesdale race at PIR Infield (9
November 2014 http://obra.org/events/22451/results#race_536370 ) document
untoward events; post-race weigh-out flagged two incidents of Underweight
Sandbagging as documented on the certified findings (
http://bit.ly/CRUSADA_20141109A ).

In that certification, it will be noted that there were two infractions
observed at the most recent race.

Clydesdale #749, a yearling Clydesdale, weighed in shy of the required
portliness. By dint, he shall receive a verbal warning at beginning of the
next race and be encouraged to eat and live heartily prior to his next race
to gain/re-gain the status, attraction and allure that Clydesdales and
Athenas have learned to tolerate.

Clydesdale # 769 is a long time (alleged) Clydesdale having raced in 2007,
2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. As such, his underweight transgression,
though slighter, will cause him to be placed on CRUSADA probation and
subject to, among other indignities, random weighings as well as standard
weigh-outs at the conclusion of race. Depending on the tenor of those
weighings, additional antagonisms may ensue, up to the point of possible
relegation, disqualification or, ultimately, snorting/sneering from the
Clydesdale/Athena fields, respectively.

If a racer wishes to lodge a protest, evidence should be presented in
elevator talk format to CRUSADA Technical Director at the beginning of the
next Cyclocross Crusade Clydesdale/Athena race. The field (appropriate for
the Clydesdale category to be standing in) will provide binding arbitration.

As a side note, regarding the first event discussed above involving Hugh
Ford at WashCoFrgrnd:
Even though the alleged culprit was described to resemble a Jack
Handy-loving member of the greater Crusade, these claims are anecdotal and
no actions can be taken without solid evidence. Photographic and/or DNA
evidence should be submitted to the CRUSADA Technical Director at Barton
Park Crusade (16 November 2014) or The Lumberyard after-party (22 November
2014) to ensure that Clydesdales and Athenas remain pure and free of
underweight sandbagging.

Regards,

Technical Director
CRUSADA, the Committee to Reduce Underweight Sandbagging And Deliberate
Antagonisms
