Kids bike loaners

Hey Derek,

You may want to check with Legacy's "Trauma Nurses Talk Tough" program or Dorenbecher childrens hospital regarding helmets. They used to offer free or nominally priced (think $5 or $6) helmets.

It's to late for this spring but for future reference the BTA offers a 10 hour bike safety program to all PPS and PPS chartered schools. The program has no cost attached and is designed for 4th and 5th graders.
We (full disclaimer---I am a BTA bike safety instructor when not racing bikes!) provide bikes and helmets for all kids during the duration of the class. I hope this helps and if you want more info regarding the BTA program just let me know.

Does anyone know of a local business that has loaner bikes that could be used for my child's school "bike fest"? I would love to get about a dozen bikes of various sizes for K- fifth graders. Nothing fancy, just bikes that work.

On the same subject, wondering if there any companies out there that provide donations of bike helmets for kids?

Thank you for any information you can provide. Feel free to email me off-line.

Derek
