Portland area off road riding update

I just want to shout out for obra and nwta member Brian Baumann (and Charlie Sponsel who I do not know) for keeping the heat on PORTLAND to deal with the need for off road access for bikes. Please look at their competent efforts in the BikePortland article on April 14 regarding the April 8th Riverview Advisory Comm. meeting (they are members). They did such a good job of presenting the facts about lack of proper process that the committee had to somewhat deal with “bikes” even though Abatte and Roth (city employees) were told they could not discuss bikes!
Others are working on your behalf as well.......more than you might imagine and they do not ask for praise or 1st place ribbons. They are champions in their cat.
Portland is a tough one, but I feel confident you will be riding trail in the city and other adjacent green spaces.
If you look at the constant pressure being applied by nwta, national organizations and all of you who have stepped up and let your voice be heard, positive things are coming for off road riding. Look at what Mayor Hales said today.........check BikePortland for his quote.

I know. I know. This is not racing, but you know that it really is about racing.

Keep the pressure on the City of Portland in a firm, courteous, professional manner and we will be riding trail. Metro sees the need even better in my opinion. They already understand the concept of NOT HAVING TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES to ride a bike on trail.
Thanks obra members.
