Remember we are going to begin building on Metro lands (Tual. Mtns.). Also Mayor Hales if much more positive about getting some options for us on Parks lands.
Maybe I will attend the next NWTA meeting (last Tuesday evening of month) and see if some sort of letter writing campaign to BLM or OR. State Forests might make them see that a land swap with Weyerhaeuser might be VERY GOOD for the regions recreational needs (biking / hiking) as well as wildlife corridors. As it stands now, the tree growing companies pretty much slash, burn, poison, then plant and poison again. Then they spend $ on ads telling us how great they are replanting the forests for all...........when the truth is our legislature passed laws mandating them do this prudent replanting. They still get away with a good deal of nasty environmental stuff. I wander..........you know me. take care out there.
Thanks to all of you out there for every individual effort to either build, maintain or general support of trail advocacy (as in membership) etc.

As much as I agree that in light of its treatment of MTBers, Portland's claim as a leading bike city is a joke, this one can't be pinned on the city. This one is on the landowner, Weyerhaeuser.
It does, however, make a stronger case for all of us getting involved in developing MTB trails on public lands.

Well that's just delightful. Maybe I'll take up fly-fishing or Cheeto-eating since options for mountain-biking anywhere near Portland are quickly approaching zero. Between this and the fact that there's literally nowhere for a small family to live anywhere close to the downtown core for under $400k, I'm about to give up on Portland. Bike City USA indeed.

If you are interested in continuing to ride at Scappoose trails..........as of July 1, 2015 you will need a permit. You had better decide and act on info below.
I understand the North Side permits are already sold out (not to riders if you can believe it), but some additional South Side permits (some already sold earlier) will be issued today. I understand that for a mere $50 dollars you can purchase an individual permit to ride (if available and you get one) from July 1 – December 31. Not sure what happens after Dec. 31.
I guess if you ride there a lot, you might want to get on board if you can get one of the permits. They were sold out yesterday, but more might be available today. Remember this is for South Side. After July 1, 2015 the North Side will not be open for riding as I understand. The company is moving to Permit and Lease use only. I have no idea how this will be enforced, but assume they will do what is necessary. Site below to purchase permit.
Andy - thought you said they were going to sell more on Thursday morning?
Ron - you buy them here: https://www.wyrecreationnw.com/Permits/PropertyPage_NorthwestOR.aspx
Even though I do not care for this process, I urge people who apply to be on best behavior so Mtn. Bikers are perceived in good light by landowners. I sure wish BLM owned this property.
Thanks to Andy of NWTA for letting us know about the change, even though it was last minute.
