I had a ton of problems with my Garmin HRM after just a few months of ownership. Did some research, turns out the sensor/transmitter is fine, but a ton of people have problems with the strap. It craps out no matter how well you take care of it. I ended up ordering a Polar-branded replacement strap and have had zero problems with it over the last year.

The button snaps fit the Garmin HRM, but I did have to trim off a little bit of rubber around the outside to get the sensor to snap in all the way. Took me less than a minute.
