Cake Results

Goodness, I want to clarify something please so I can sleep at night.
I have no axe to grind here, nor do I have a complaint about my results, or anything else for that matter. I had a great time at Piece of Cake. It was very well organized and the officials were great as well. It was a nice day out.
On my third lap, the race official stepped out and rang the bell and called out to me that I had one more lap to go.
When the results were posted, I saw that I was listed as DNF. I was busy at work and responded with a quick email indicating that I had completed the course, asked for a correction, and said thank you.
It was a request, not a complaint. That was my intention. And I didnt think any more about it.
A bit later I got a nice email from Candi reminding me that the correct way to discuss results was to contact the results official and explain the situation. I thanked her, and followed her instructions. At work, in my haste, I had forgotten the right way to do it.
Thats it.
Again, I have no complaints. I understand the role of officials and greatly appreciate their work. I especially make a point to thank the marshals out on the course every time I go by because without them I would probably make a wrong turn.
I like to race, but I am not very good at it. In a longer race, it is usual for me to be out on the course by myself for stretches of time often with no other rider in sight until I get passed by another group. I dont use technology, so I am one rider who appreciates the officials more than ever since I rely on them to stay on course and get back to the finish and my car.
