June 17 - WSBA Road Race Championships

Hey Everyone,

A few people have asked me about the upcoming WSBA Road Race Championships
on June 17th because the date and location has moved a couple of times.
The date changes were a result of working with other organizers and the
WSBA to add a couple of new events to the calendar. I felt being flexible
with the dates was better for the racing community because it’s difficult
to find new organizers willing to tackle the effort it takes to promote a
new event.

I decided to change the WSBA Road Race Championship Course because I
cancelled the Capital Stage Race. I canceled the Capital Stage Race for a
few reason. From a finical aspect this event cost $30,000+ to organize.
Overall participation is down for a number of reason not to mention the
bitter winter month this year. Finding volunteer support has also been
more difficult because fewer people are racing. These factors all
contributed to my decision to cancel the Capital Stage Race and allowed me
to focus on my existing events like IVRR, OVRR, Mutual of Enumclaw Stage
Race, etc…

The one item I’m salvaging from the Capital Stage Race this year is the
road course. The course will be used for the WSBA Road Race Championship
on June 17th. This course has been used 5 times in previous events and
the course is worth brining back. The course features 90+ mile loop for
the senior categories, includes 5 climbs, and may feature some trade
winds. Modified routes will be used for the lower categories. You may
have heard about the old Tahuya, Seabeck, Tehuya (TST) race. This course
is similar to that.

Hopefully this clarifies a few things. Below is the link to the event
information and courses.
