Just got confirmation today from Harold the Sign Painter that we are a
go for tomorrow! Track will be closed until 2.30p Tuesday, May 29th. His
plan is to continue on Wednesday the 30th and finish this week; my plan
is to see what his plan is tomorrow :)
I would love to have a few extra hands to help with some touch up and
caulking in the morning if you are available. Let me know!
Thanks-
Jen

First, I would like to thank everyone who has helped, continues to help,
and wants to help make the Alpenrose Velodrome a great place to race or
learn how to race their bike, etc.

Secondly, and with all the respect due to all the time, effort, and money
you've put into this sport of cycling in Oregon, I find the tone of this
note to the community really heartbreaking. There was no clarity as to what
was expected from the community with regard to painting - even those who
had been in attendance at the PVC meetings weren't clear. This isn't a call
out. I just find this tactic boorish.

This is just such a buzz kill for me. I liked it more when we got together
to make decisions and could say things to each other in person. This is
dumb. This is sad.

Everyone who is going to be using the velodrome this year owes a big debt
to Matt Martinez and Jennifer Featheringill. The 2 of them put in long
days over the weekend prepping the track surface for paint; patching,
caulking and power-washing. They were help over the weekend by only 2
people; Dean Reed and Tom Orth. Jen and Matt are still out there today
having completed the taping of the lines and started painting. They will
still be painting tomorrow. I will be there to help as will Dean. It is
disappointing to see that more people have not stepped up to help them
out.
