Hey folks,

Last week, we kicked off the 13th edition of the Portland Short Track Series with a bang! We counted more than 350 racers (plus another 30 kids racers), the course rocked, and we noticed a lot of smiles, both on and off the course.

Thanks to everyone who came out to race and a special welcome to all the riders who raced short track for the very first time! Judging by all the great action photos posted by our official series photographer Victor Duong (https://flic.kr/s/aHsm1GfvR1), there was a ton of fun to be had and we hope you are all ready for more!

Here are some updates ahead of Monday's Short Track race # 2:

1) Results of STXC # 1 & Series Standings.
Results of race # 1: http://list.obra.org/events/25154/results
Series standings: http://list.obra.org/events/25230/results
Results Kids Races: http://www.portlandracing.com/results-kids-2017-06-05.html
Best 7 out of 8 races will count towards the individual series standings, so still time to get your act together and start picking up points!

2) Call-up list for Monday's STXC # 2.
Check out the call-up list for our second night of racing, with the 210 racers who purchased a series pass and will enjoy a start-line call-up each week:
http://www.portlandracing.com/call-up-list-2017-06-12.html
Also note that you will still be able to purchase a series pass on Monday (at the reduced rate of $130 for adults and $50 for juniors) and get your name added to the call-up list for the rest of the series.

3) Our first batch of weekly raffle winners!
Even if you are not a contender for the podium, you still make a chance each week to be victorious in our popular weekly raffle. Every week, we are raffling off a host prizes among all series pass holders and among all short track racers who came out to race the week before, so keep on racing and keep on checking back here to see if you are one of our 30 lucky weekly prize winners!

4) Race plates & upgrades.
If you raced last week, make sure to bring back your race plate and re-use the pipe-cleaners. Also, a reminder to always use 3 pipe cleaners to secure your plate and to position your plate in front of any brake/shifter cables and in a way that the scorers can easily read your number. If you plan to upgrade or change category at any time during the series, you will have to request a new plate at registration. If you forget or lose your plate, you'll have to purchase a new plate at registration (cost: $5).

Finally, a reminder that tomorrow we will again provide FREE Short Track Clinics from 5 to 6pm (one for women racers and another one for novice and junior men, both meeting up at the picnic tables under the trees, across from the concessions stand). The clinics are a great way to familiarize yourself with the course each week, dial your gear, and hone your bike handling/racing skills.

And don't forget that throughout the duration of the series, all short track racers get to enjoy a $2.50 "first beer" special on Monday nights at the Hopworks Bike Bar (on N Williams Ave).

Anyway, looking forward to seeing you all out at PIR tomorrow for another night of Short Track fun! We got great racing weather in the forecast (partly sunny, with highs in the upper 60s), we'll change up the course (including some new, fun lines on the motocross track), AND... we'll bring back the Dave's Killer Bread food station, serving FREE PB&J sandwiches to all racers!

Cheers,
~Kris

PS 1: Since Monday Night PIR Road Race Series is taking a break during the Short Track Series, you can now drive and park your car on the infield right across from the start line. However, at no time are bikes (let alone cars) allowed on the PIR road track.
PS 2: registrations are coming in steadily for the Six Hours of Mt Hood, which will take place on Sunday July 2 (just over 3 weeks away!) at the Mt Hood Skibowl mountain resort. The course is in great shape, so it promises to be another great edition. First 200 riders who pre-register receive a free commemorative pint glass, so don't wait around and register today!
