Coast Tour in Fall/Winter

Pretty much of a crapshoot. I did the ride two years ago during the last week of January and had six strait days of mild overcast to sunshine and daytime temps in the 50s. Probably the driest tour I’ve ever done. This year in February I rode a couple of days on the coast as part of a different route, got absolutely soaked.

At least in the off season there is no problem finding a motel room to get warm and dry overnight.

Regarding daylight, I did the border to border ride in six days and did not have to ride in the dark at all. I still recommend running lights on the bike just to help the drivers see you.

Has anyone done the Oregon Coast bike tour (Washington border to California border, or vice versa) in non-summer months? Is that just a stupid idea because of the rain and decreased daylight hours?
