Wanted to Thank everyone that posted my bike loss into a bike recovery and wanted to share my success story. I want to Thank Daniel for his help as my sting operator on Offerup. I posted bike as stolen on FB, Craigslist and I got a tip that saw my posting on CL that it was on offerup. I tried to OFFERUP and was shot down, Daniel (A friend across town) was than man that was able to get it done and arrange a meeting place and time for the recapture of the bike.I have a strong feeling that this person had some sort of Ip tracker that showed him my ip address was local. I have to say that Clackamas County Police were less than helpful and decided I just wanted my bike back. The person that stole the bike was in his mid 20's with a obvious drug addiction living in gladstone area. He took it off my front porch in Oak Grove. I feel very lucky and want to thank everyone for their help in recovery. I decided not to get the police involved for personal reasons and that they didn't seem to have any interest in recovery. This persons Offerup acct has been deleted, I'm sure he will be back and stealing other items. When I saw my bike on there he had several items that were obviously not his, Purses, bikes, snowboards, helmets, ect.. I did confront this person but had my friend act as the buyer with Literal money in hand to show his seriousness. Once my friend had the bike in his hand. I came on the scene and told him it's my bike and if he wanted to stick around and let the police handle who's it was I would gladly do so. I know this sounds like I was to chicken to do it. But just in case the the person had watched me take my bike off my car or come home with my bike. I parked a ways away. Took a different car ect. He opted not to do so. This was a wake up call for me that good and bad are still in the world and that good still trumps bad. No pun intended. Thanks again for everyones help. Feel free to hit me up if you have any question in a private message.
