FW: Audi improperly parked at cx Bend

It would not surprise me if this venue is lost due to this act. This would
not be the first time that a venue was lost. The Piece Of Cake classic
comes to mind, it was lost not that many years ago due to OBRA riders
conducting public urination rather openly on public buildings.

I know that I have laid many bikes on the ground because racers seem to
think that a parked car is their personal bike rack. I remember yelling at
riders in Bend for sitting on my Subaru Legacy during a Halloween race a few
years ago.

I am sorry for the owner and embarrassed (but not at all surprised) by the
OBRA community.

I just had a conversation with two seasoned riders at the Mary's Peak Road Race about laying there bike on my car, and they looked at me crazy when I asked them to move them.

Again, ORBA CAT 1/2 racers.

The act is unfortunate but I’m curious as to why you all are so quick to take blame?  Or to place blame on OBRA.  When a bike is stollen from an OBRA race we don’t automatically blame the OBRA community.  It is often assumed it was an outsider.  Unless you know who did it I would be careful placing blame on anyone.

Either way it sucks and nothing can be done to change the past but I feel that OBRA could start a fundraiser to pay for the damages as an act of good will.

Don’t blame the community just ask them to shine and help fix a wrong.

Kenji,

You may or may not have heard of the Audi that was inconveniently parked in the gravel lot today (Sunday) at Deschutes Brewery. Race officials made an announcement that the car was in a precarious spot near the pit near the corner of the parking lot that had pedestrian traffic and that it was inadvertently being scratched by those passing by. I walked by the vehicle and saw a small scratch or two perhaps from bikes passing by. I'm concerned because each time I passed by there was more damage to the vehicle that didn't look as accidental. Scratches on the hood, several expletives drawn in the windows and several places on the body that included penises and scrotums, "you suck", "ass", "you think you're special" on the hood, and later I returned and it looked like the side had been keyed. I'm not a fan of people who park poorly, but I was appalled to see the what folks may have done to this vehicle as a result of its location. I was also surprised to see an OBRA official post this to their Facebook page -"falling prey to cliche". I thought that the matter was handled very unprofessionally. I thought about posting to OBRA chat or to the official who posted it on Facebook but I want to remain anonymous. I just wanted to make you aware. It's really hard not to speculate intentional damage vs accidental in this case, but I fear this is what may have happened.  We will never know for sure. I'm pretty anal with my vehicles and I know for a fact that drawing with fingers on a vehicle's paint causes damage.  Things were taken too far in my opinion.  Thanks for hearing me on this one.

There is 10k in damage to car. He is a manager at Deschutes and really pissed. This makes us look horrible. Not only was it written in dust but they used markers all over the car as well and some won’t come off.
