Hi John (and other DK'ers),
Just wanted to respond as someone who did DK in 2016 (same course as this year). If you are planning to run carbon wheels there, I highly recommend that you take a spare set of alloy wheels to have at the support stops. Actually, that goes for all parts that are practicable: spare tires, chain, pedals, chainring, and even derailleur and hanger are a good plan. It's a bummer to have to end the race after 40 miles when you've traveled so far.
The first segment has some flint/shale shelves (I flatted on one) and more rough portions, while the 2nd and 3rd sections are relatively smooth. As smooth as flint gravel gets anyway. And the last section, which is often done going into the night, has some more big shelves.
Congrats on getting in! Jealous.
Cheers,
Ian

Hi Molly,

Scott Rider told me about this post and had bought some wheels from you over the holidays. Im looking for a light set of carbon wheels for DK200. The bike Im riding is a 10speed SRAM with QR disc. I run tubeless 35-40mm. Im also interested in a travel box but thats secondary to the wheels.

Thanks for your time,
