Hello, fellow OBRA racers!

For those of you who didn't receive the email that I sent out to the Portland Racing mailing list, I like to share a couple updates about the 2018 Portland Short Track Series (https://portlandracing.com), which will kick off in just over two weeks...
As always, we plan to make it the most fun summer bike race series in Oregon and we want YOU (and your friends, family, and team mates) to come out to PIR and join the fun!

--------

1) Our ever-popular Series Pass is currently selling through OBRA. Just go to http://obra.org/events/26056/register

Purchase yours today to save time and money on race day (once you have a pass, you can just come out and race, no pre-start check-in required) and enjoy a weekly priority call-up at the start of your category (in the order you have registered).
In addition, every week your name will get entered in our weekly raffle of a bunch of cool prizes, even the weeks that you end up not racing.
To top it off, if you are over 21 and purchase a Series Pass by end-of-day Monday, you will get a free 1-year membership to the HUB Mug Club (with all the cool benefits that come with it, minus the free t-shirt), courtesy of our perennial series title sponsor Hopworks Urban Brewery!

Check out the preliminary call-up list for our first night of racing, with the 101 riders who already purchased a series pass and who will get to line up at the front of their category each week:

--------

2) Like previous years, the series will run for 8 weeks - from June 4 through July 30 - with a mid-series break, when we'll swap our weekly dose of short track action for a fun-filled day of MTB endurance racing (solo or as a 2-person team) at the Six Hours of Mount Hood (https://6hoursofmthood.com) which will take place on Sunday July 1 at Mt Hood Skibowl.

Race categories and schedule will remain the same as last year and all race categories are self-selecting, so if you can't make it to PIR for the first two race heats (at 6:15 and 6:55pm), you are free to race with the Cat 1 (Men & Women) or Cat 2 Men at 7:30pm.
Like previous years, we will also host - each week! - FREE short track clinics (one for women and one for novice riders) from 5 to 6pm and FREE kids races (featuring 3 categories) at 6pm.

--------

3) For more info about the Portland Short Track Series (incl. detailed race flyer, categories, race schedule, call-up list) and a bunch of cool action photos and videos of previous editions, make sure to visit and bookmark our "new & improved" web site at https://portlandracing.com

Weekly results, series standings, and photos will be posted here, as well as regular updates about our upcoming "special nights".
Of course, you can also stay up-to-date about everything Short Track by following us on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/portlandracing/) and/or Instagram (http://instagram.com/portlandracing).

--------

4) Finally, a heads-up that we are still looking for some additional volunteers to help us make the magic happen each week.
If you are interested and available to help out (in exchange for a free series pass or race entry), visit our volunteer page (https://portlandracing.com/volunteer/) and fill out the form at the bottom of that page.
Note: open volunteer slots will get filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, with preference going to folks who are able to volunteer at all or most of the races in the series.

--------

That's it for now... look forward to another email next week with some final updates ahead of our first night of racing. In the meantime, get your bike and legs all dialed, spread the word among your friends, and if you have any questions, just drop me a line!

Have a great weekend and see you at the races!

~Kris
