Do you have as much uninsured/underinsured motorist ("UM/UIM") coverage as you can get on your car insurance? It is what will protect you and your family if you are hurt while cycling or as a pedestrian (not just in a vehicle) by an at-fault driver who doesn't have enough insurance. Which is most of them. Nobody wants to think about it, but call your agent and find out how much it would cost to get the maximum amount (typically $500k, $1m or more). It's the most important insurance you will ever buy, and it's surprisingly cheap for what you get.
