I have a well kept, well used couple of items here. 
 
The Alpha Q cyclocross fork is about 4 years old.  It has been ridden lots, but been very dependable.  It has a 1" steerer tube that is 250mm long.  There is the usual wear and tear on the fork.  It doesn't look new, but it looks pretty good.
 
Now most of you out there see that it is 1" and figure that it won't work for your modern 1 1/8" head tubes....BUT WAIT!
 
I have a Chris King Devolution headset that allows one to use the 1" Alpha Q fork on a 1 1/8" head tube.  It is black.  I used this for the same period of time.  Works great!  You'd never know that I had been using a 1" fork in a 1 1/8" frame.
