GPS question

Folks,

I have had enough of another failed Garmin update that:
1) erases all data on my device
2) fails to upload via my cellphone

What other units are folks using out there that connect via bluetooth
to upload, have speed/cadence features and work if connected to a
trainer
(i.e. speed/distance/cadence).

I would rather spend $300.00 on something that is a more reliable then
what
garmin has shown to be.

Thanks,

Joe

Check out the new course creator function on Garmin Connect. No need to use
anything else for cycling. Works great with the courses function on the
Edge 500.

2nd what Rick says. I stopped using Crap! My Ride when my rides failed to load half the time. Garmin and RWGPS are the two best sites I can recommend.

You might want to have a look at Garmin BaseCamp
, it's free.

Now that were done talking about Torque lets talk about GPS.

I was a land surveyor for many years and know quite about professional GPS, but not much about reciational GPS.
I have the Garmin 500 and love it. but I have not done much with the GPS function of it.
I've seen mapmyride site, but I think that it cost money to print out maps off of it. Since the Garmin 500 only give turn by turn direction and not a full map like the 800, I still like to have a paper map on me for when I change my route mid ride.
I just found the ridewithgps site and it looks like it has pretty good instructions for garmin users.
I'm not a complete idiot with computers and GPS units but I like things to be simple. I'm just looking for an easy way that I can create my own route and download it into my garmin 500.

Thanks for any feedback.
