USA Cycling Regional Talent ID Camps:
The pathway to the future starts here in the summer of 2013, USA Cycling is
hosting 13 nationwide Talent ID Camps designed for athletes racing age 14
to 22 years of age and who are at least 14 years old at the start of the
camp. The attendees should have some racing experience.

The Northwest Camp in Oregon is hosting one for the forth year running and
will be on these dates: July 28 - August 2, 2013.

USA Cycling maintains development pathways for various disciplines of
competitive cycling through camps, racing series, training bases and
top-level competition. It is the compilation of all of these efforts that
make up USA Cycling’s National Development Program which aims to provide
promising young athletes with the tools they need to excel at the highest
levels of professional cycling.

Several current World Tour riders from the Pacific Northwest got their
start at USA Cycling Talent ID Camps. Through the camps and the exposure to
International competition in the Juniors or U23s they have progressed
onward and upward!

find all the camps listed for online registration. Registration for each
camp closes one week prior to the start of each camp. If you meet the age
qualifications but do not see ability to register, please email camp

NEW IN 2013:
Scholarships: Washington State Racing Association (WSBA) - Will provide
scholarships to a group of riders who have residence in Washington State.
Application, details and more info will be posted on WSBA Email list and
website . Please look for this in the coming

Rapha Northwest Juniors Classic Stage
Race:
Coordinated for 2013 to take advantage of riders attending the camp and
continue up to Washington State for this fantastic stage race "only for
Juniors" - a unique one of a kind event - not to be missed by any Junior in
the NW! Stage race is organized as a separate event from the Talent ID
Camp. Rapha Northwest Juniors Classic Stage Race takes place on August 3-4,
2013 in Elma, WA.

ABOUT:
The camp will consist of unique opportunities for younger riders to
learn the fundamentals of bike racing. Basic bike and training skills,
nutrition, basic bike mechanics, and nutrition will be amongst the
instruction topics. There will be several presentations that will give
the riders a well-rounded view of bicycle racing, like racing as a
junior internationally, track racing and other disciplines of the
sport. As with any cycling camp, there will be plenty of riding with
fantastic rides scheduled around the Washington County area, which has
some of the best bike cycling in the north valley!

Riders participating in the camp will be overseen by some of the most
experienced coaches in the United States. The staff includes
professional coaches who specialize in working with younger athletes
and in giving them the skills and confidence to become great riders.

The camp is designed for female and male cyclists, ages 14-22 with
some racing experience. The camp will be based on the beautiful campus
of Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon July 28-August 2, 2013. Costs
for the camp are $750.00 for the week, which includes room, board and
all instructional fees. Early discounts are available. All riders need to
be current USA Cycling members.

USA Cycling Development Foundation Grant Program:
Camp participants can apply for grants to offset the cost of the camp
or travel to the camp. USA Cycling Development Foundation Travel and
Training Grant Program. Eligibility is based, in part, on financial
need. Please read the instructions and eligibility requirements
carefully. Note that the award money will not cover the entire costs
of the camp, so other fundraising activities should be explored. Also,
Contact your team manager or president about financial scholarships
from your team. You may want to talk to your local racing association
about any scholarships available or fundraising ideas. More info about
