This is not a stage race or an omnium. You can ride both days, or one, or none.
Also, Sunday is the Tandem TT State Championships, so come cheer on the "big" bikes.

Driving directions will be up soon, and a start list, once you procrastinators start to register . . .

Wow! what a race! Im floored. Everybody did an incredible job to bring this one together. The Singletrack downhill was good, the singletrack hill climbing was tough, but its a shame in a mtb race when you have to climb a gravel road. I think its the funnest mtb race of all season. Kevin Thompson and Capital Subaru did a nice job on the course design this year. thanks!

Flat parts of Blackrock? I was told that was either just Native American
Mythology or a state of mind only attainable through oxygen starvation and
doing the ride wearing glasses with prism inserts. If these actually do
exist it sounds like either a spiritual experience or two places where I can
try to recover! It is "tuff" being a sandbagger. Have they paved the
trails yet?
Gotta get my prereg. in.

The preregistrations are showing up in my mail box daily.

Just a quick reminder that we changed the dates for Bear Springs and the Falls City Firecracker. Bear Springs is this Sunday and the Falls City Firecracker will be June 1st.

Firecracker info is posted at:

Even Plews and the boys from Capital Subaru have a great course set up for you to race. Expect "more" than in past years. More ups, more downs, and he even seems to have found both flat parts on the mountain.

The course is in great shape. Yes, Even is correct, the unclimbable climb probably won't be on the course. The great descents will be. 10 am start for beginner, sport, and singlespeed. 12:30 start for expert and pro.

See you all in 9 days.

Just wanted to say thanks for a well run race and an excellent course,

very cool and 4000 ft of vertical worked me. Sorry to the

photographers who wanted me to go big on the air over the jumps. I

kinda woosed on the air time. Great Job Kevin and Half Fast Velo.

Can you all spread the word that we don't get to use the church soccer

field this year? The camp directors are on their way to a wedding on

Saturday and won't be around to watch their property, so the gate going

into the soccer field will be locked Saturday morning. Registration

will be just out side of the gate.

Please park on the main gravel road on the right side, just past the

gate, I am hoping I have someone there directing traffic.

I am heading down Friday to mark the course. It will be like a cross

course, red cones on the right, yellow on the left.

If you are planning on camping, there are some really pretty spots just

past the camp up the gravel road (since we don't get to use the church

soccer field) on the creek.

See you all Saturday,

Kevin

I pre-rode part of this course on Teusday, and I must say that if you

can make it to this race, you most definately should.

The single-track is fantastic, and even the climbing is better than I

expected, as the roads almost more like dirt- double track in places

rather than just gravel. It's all very well shaded so the temp should be

cool.

It looks to be a very fine race. Lots of climbing, excellent smooth

twisty track with fun steeps, all very nice.

Just a heads- up for anyone considering going.

Happy Fourth!

Steve

(No, kevin did not pay me for the plug. Not a bad idea though...

discount, Kev? )

:)

The race route will be marked as of Friday around noon. Be prepared for

some more "challenging" sections, because there are some steep spots on

the descent. It is a short course, and there for very spectator

friendly (think cross on steriods). Walking up the road to the start

will provide ample opportunity to cheer your favorite riders on.

There was a typo on the directions from Portland. It has been fixed. I

listed the Salem Parkway exit as #268. It should be 260-B. It has been

fixed.

Regestration opens at 8. Sport and Beginners go off at 10:00 and 10:01.

Pro/elite at 12:00, expert at 12:01.
