I just read the article, and I think people are getting a bit too worked up.

His comments were not meant to be that serious. It was supposed to be

silly, as were his answers of questions with respect to other sports.



As for bicycling, he compared the difficultly of bicycling to the guy who

one the hotdog eating record and he made another reference to kickstands.

It is an article that is not intended to be taken seriously and was more in

the nature of entertainment.



I do not get the impression that he takes himself very seriously, and I

think we have to avoid taking ourselves too seriously and seeing everything

as an attack on cycling. It was supposed to be humorous even if it was not

particularly funny. The fact that he is not particularly funny is probably

the reason for your confusion in taking it seriously.



Go out for a ride and relax. It is a beautiful day.
