Brian ,
I was so glad to see this email. I used to live in Boulder until Jan this year , when I moved to Portland .
One of the highlights of my summer last year was the Boulder Short track series , even though it was my 1st year of biking and racing .
I know some of the people that are involved in setting up the Boulder series , and would be happy to pick their brains , and I would volunteer to check out the possibility of this type of sereis to happen in Portland, and also to help promote and organize such a event .
With such a big Cross community here in Portland , I am sure there would plenty of help when it came to possible course locations, I had already seen 2 possible locations in the downtown/industrial area.
Also I would be happy to contact one of the main sponsers of the series in Boulder who is Rocky Mounts, as I know several people that ride for thier team. I am sure they would be interested in seeing the series grow in another location.

Brian lets see who else likes this idea.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Weekly mtb short track in PDX?
I just returned from Boulder where I had the pleasure of attending their Wednesday night weekly short track competition. I got to see an Australian olympic rider kick some butt! It was a great event that drew a large crowd of racers and spectators. Music blaring, kids racing for free, people yelling, smiles abound! There was even a Mexican restaurant that offrered 1/2 off any entree with a race number. Has this ever been attempted in Portland? Is it possible? Is their interest in a weekly event like this? It seems to me that this would be a great event to strengthen the mountain bike community in the area, and would expose young and old riders to the wonderful world of riding/racing. Opinions?? I would be willing to investigate this further (with a little help) if there is interest.
Brian
