It would be cool if took place during the week and didn't conflict with the PIR or Tabor road series. I think your turn out would be greater.

I'm definitely envisioning it as a true mtb short track event. Riders would always be able to ride it on a cross bike if they prefer. Just starting to get the discussion started, but the replies have been very positive! All we need are some ideas for places to have it. The closer the better so that spectators wouldn't have to drive across town to come and watch. The cool part about the Boulder course is that it changes every week because it occurs in an industrial area that has many little singletrack trails in the same area.

I think it's a great idea and I know five or ten people without even thinking about it who would participate for sure -- wouldn't want to inhibit the "real men" from testing themselves, though.

There was a series not too long ago that was run weekly out at PIR. The course used the motocross track and then wandered around through the woods behind it, and out in the grassy area to the west. I raced it a few times and it was fast and fun. However, turnout was not so good.

Yes, given the popularity of cyclocross here, and the number of people who do it on mountain bikes, there should be an opportunity for some more races. But more than talking about it, we as racers need to support it by doing it. And of course we as racers must also hope that someone who likes running races more than getting thanked will step up and promote it.

Anyone up for looking at a "Summer 'Cross" season, perhaps to test multiple skills and allow the possible use of 'cross bikes? Or would that be too "weenie" for the mountain bike crowd? I've always thought it would be cool to have off road races that would test bike selection as much as skill and power. Run ups, drop offs, logs, ascents, descents, you name it. Throw it at 'em, see what bikes the riders pick, and let 'em at it. Would certainly add to the spectator fun to watch people who choose the wrong cup (I mean bike).
