I have spoken with Eric Tonkin and I feel compelled to point out that these

are not OBRA races or events. You should consider these similar to other

mountain bike rides with your friends which may involve some element of

competition. The property owner of this area is DOT and they have NOT given

permission to use the area. In general, DOT tolerates the use of the area

by cyclists but "outlaw" race or event may jeopardize that as well as other

things.

Eric and others are working on developing a short track weekday series.

Part of the difficulty is finding an appropriate venue and securing

permission to use it. Watch this space for more info.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Details on mtb short track event

I have received an enormous amount of emails in response to my original

inquiry about a weekly short track mtb event for next year in Portland.

Little did I know that some individuals have already begun some planning for

this exact type of event.

There will be some practice/training rides for short track mtb/cyclocross

racing taking place in a couple of weeks. The first date will be Wednesday,

August 6th around 6:30pm and will last for about an hour. The location will

be at the intersection of I-84 and I-205 just North of the park and ride on

the I-205 bike path. These training events will last through the middle of

September.

If you have interest in some hard training rides for the upcoming 'cross

season, or have interest in assisting with a possible mtb. short track

series for next year grab your helmet and bike of choice and head on out.

If you have any questions please contact Eric Tonkin at Sellwood Cycle

Repair.

**Eric has promised that Journey's Greatest Hits will be blaring from a

stereo in order to pump everyone up for some hard riding!!
