One note, I hope that if the flexibility is left to
the promoters that they give us enough notice which
category we'll be racing with so that we don't show up
2 hours early or 2 hours late for the race start.
Thanks for opening up the dialogue.
cheers,

You would normally race under one standard XC and
one DH category. For
example, you may race expert cross country, and
sport DH. You may ALSO race
SS as you like, at the XC events. This would be a
third plate, normally.
However, since you have an expert (yellow) XC plate
already, you don't need
a new one. Just register in the SS class.
Your points, however, are not additive. Expert XC
points are not added with
your SS points for BAR.
If you are a beginner XC racer, and wish to race SS,
you will need another
plate, and will most likely be racing the expert
course. You are not scored
against the experts, however.
I will send out something via e-mail, and will post
something to the web for
the racers so this is a little clearer. Look for
something this weekend.
Randy's comment about talking to the promoter (the
huddle) is the best.
OBRA doesn't care how far you race. If the
organizer receives requests to
have the SS ride the kiddie course, they can make
that change if they like.
Likewise, if the Expert course is 40 miles, with 15k
feet of vertical, and
the SS still wish to leave their kneecaps on the
trail, the organizer can
make the call to have them race up or back with the
Sports.
Ain't this grass-roots flexibility great?
