2004-03-01

Corben-Huntair (Emerald Velo Bicycle Club) is providing another

opportunity

for any interested cyclists to partake in a FREE pre-race training event

(the day before the second Banana Belt road race). This is a follow-on

to last week's session (refreshing last week's information and adding

some new topics). Thank you to Julie Browning for her assistance and

support. And thank you to Jon Walpole (in absentia) for his "race

preparation" checklist.

March 6, 2004 (Saturday morning, Rain or shine)

Start: 9.00am

Distance: 15-20 miles

Ride co-ordinator: Ivan Meadors & Corben-Huntair team members

Location: River City Bicycles; MLK Blvd., Portland

Route: TBD

Terrain: mostly flat

Purpose/description: Road-race pre-ride; an "on the road training

session" to learn/practice/acknowledge some basic ideas, concepts,

skills and tips related to bike racing. Plan to spend 1~1.5 hours during

this FREE session. Geared mostly towards category 4/5 (the expectation

is that category 1/2/3 riders already know the basics). This ride is

open to all interested OBRA members.

Ps: if there are experienced racers that would like to show up and

provide their valued knowledge to new cyclists, please feel free to come

to the ride.
