All you single speeders and fixers

I can't imagine enough riders to make 2 groups of single speed and fixed

gear bikes for Cherry Pie Road Race February 20. I will limit it to one group,

fixed or single speed. If you wish to race in this event please send me your

preference, fixed or single. Below are the rules that prevent both groups to

race in the same field.

"9.8.2 Bicycles shall have a freewheel mechanism EXCEPTION: A fixed gear and

single front brake may be used in time trial events or in races where all

the competitors are similarly equipped. Freewheeled and fixed gear bikes

shall not be mixed in the same mass start event."

I realize that enforcement of this has been lax in cyclocross events (many

things are lax in cross) but this should be strictly enforced for road

events. The race plan will need to be modified to accommodate 2 fields if

both types of single speed are to compete.
