MTB Short Track Series - results & prizes

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, 99 bike racers of all ages and all abilities kicked off the

Portland Mountain Bike Short Track Series. It was a great spectacle

seeing all those people on mountain bikes and cyclocross bikes tear up

the motocross course at PIR. And everybody seemed to agree that it was

one sweet course. Next week: same place, same time for more of the same.

In the meantime I have posted the results of yesterday's races at

http://www.portlandracing.com. Check it out and let me know if anything

doesn't seem right. I plan to finalize the results by Wednesday noon and

will post the series points as well.

Further, we have some lucky winners of our weekly prizes.

Our first "Team Estrogen Queen of the Night" winner is Evelyne West! She

was picked at random from all women racers who showed up yesterday and

she will receive a $100 gift certificate, donated by our special Women

Sponsor Team Estrogen. In case you wondered, we had 19 women racers

(actually 21 if I count the two girls who rode our kiddie race). For the

winners of the other prizes, go check our web site.

Finally a big thanks to the 15 volunteers who helped out with setting up

the course, staffing the registration desk, and counting laps.

And to the fine folks at Bike N' Hike who came out to provide neutral

support to our racers and demo the latest models of Giant mountain

bikes.

Hope to see you all next week!

~Kris

PS: One thing that we hope to improve on next week is getting people

through the registration. We'll make sure to have a dedicated "fast

line" for pre-registered racers, who will just have to check in, pick up

their race plate (if they don't have it yet) and are otherwise good to

go. And to top it off, we will reserve a goodie package for every

pre-registered racer.
