Susan Otcenas
I would just like to take a few minutes to thank all the people who helped
my friend Laura last nite after the crash in the women's novice field. I'm
sure I'll miss a few people, but particular thanks go out to Roxy Cate, who
was AWESOME. Level-headed, quick thinking, and clearly not phased by the
site of open wounds and lots of blood. Allison (I'm sorry I don't know your
last name) was great too - a big help keeping Laura calm. Thanks too for
getting her bike back to my vehicle - I've never managed the trick of riding
one bike while sheparding a riderless bike with my other hand. Several
other riders stopped and made sure everything was under control as well.
Mike (Murray, right?) patched Laura up sufficiently for us to get her to the
hospital.
When I left the hospital at 10 last night, Laura has just come out of x-ray.
It wasn't yet clear whether her collarbone/shoulder was broken, or just
dislocated. The nasty cut in her leg will take a lot of stitches, but she
should be up and walking around soon.
So to all, thank you again.
Susan
