I had a set that I used for 20,000 miles and they looked as good as new
when I got rid of them. No type of brake pad seemed to hurt them, but
unfortunately, no type of brake pad seemed to give any stopping power
when wet either. I finally got rid of them after nearly running into
the backs of cars a few times while going downhill on a commute to work
in the rain. I now use disc brakes on my commuter bike.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Ceramic rims questions
Has anybody got experience with ceramic rims? I'm using a set of Mavic
Open Pro Ceramic rims on my rain bike (because regular aluminum rims
just get wasted on the braking surface because of all the grit). I'm
using the Coolstop green brake pads (for ceramic rims) and they work
fine in the dry but don't stop very fast in the wet at all. Has anybody
used the regular Coolstop (black) brake pads on ceramic rims? Do they:
1. wear out really super fast
2. work at all
3. stop faster than the green ones in the wet
4. harm the ceramic braking surface
Or anything else?
