Rotors of the same diameter are compatible. The "standard" rotor size is 6"

(160mm), which I'd guess is what you got. If you use a 6" shimano rotor it

will work fine.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] mountain bike tech question

Fellow mountain bikers; a tech question for you (or anyone else who happens

to know):

I am upgrading my bike to discs. I have purchased a pair of Hayes El Camino

disc brakes. Can I even use a set of Shimano disc wheels (with Shimano

rotors) in the Hayes calipers? Does anyone have experience with this type of

setup? Any compatibility issues? Should I even bother with the Shimano

wheels?

Ideally, the Shimano wheels would be for bashing on the trails, and then I

would have a second set of nice race wheels (probably Crossmax SL with the

Hayes rotors) for racing.

Thanks for the help.

Dave
