Cyclocross: Oregon riders on world team
Sixty percent of the men's elite team that will represent the United States
on Jan. 28-29 at the UCI world championships are Oregonians.
The five-man contingent announced Friday includes Ryan Trebon and Barry
Wicks of Corvallis and Erik Tonkin of Portland. Trebon earned automatic
nomination to the team based on a top-50 ranking in the UCI standings, and
Wicks earned an automatic nomination as the top U.S. rider in the 2005 Crank
Brothers U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross series.
Rhonda Mazza of Portland is a member of the elite women's team, and Adam
McGrath of Portland is a member of the five-man under-23 team.
The world championships will be held in Zeddam, The Netherlands.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Donations for Oregonian's racing the
Cyclo-cross World Championships
Folks,
As many people have read here and in the newspaper, 5 racers from
Oregon have been selected to compete at the Cyclo-cross World
Championships in the Netherlands this year. A couple of these
racers have sponsorship or Federation support that pays for this
trip. For most, being selected to the team means that they will be
paying somewhere over $2000 out of their own pocket. That does not
include taking a week and 1/2 off from work. All the racers know
that they will have to pay to attend, but it is still a significant
expense. This cost includes airfare, lodging, and a fee to USA Cycling.
If you would like to donate money to support these local racers,
please send a check to OBRA with a note on the letter or check
indicating it is for cyclo-cross worlds. OBRA will give all the
donated money to the local racers that are going. As an added
bonus, the donation is tax deductible.
Please send to:
OBRA
P.O. Box 16355
Portland, OR 97292
Thanks, Jon
