I second that, I ride Shimano 10, and 9 will not fit on my Rolf 10 hub.

Negative on that, George. The new Shimano Dura Ace 10 and Ultegra 10 speed

hubs won't take a 9 speed cassette (they're too wide), but a 10 speed

cassette will fit on the 8/9/10 speed 105 level hubs such as in R500-R560

wheels, older Dura Ace and Ultegra, and on most aftermarket wheelsets. You

just have to use the supplied spacer behind the 10 speed Shimano cassette.

A nine speed Shimano cassette will work on a new Shimano wheel as the

wheels are 9/10 speed.

If you want to upgrade, you will have to change both shifters, rear

derailleur, chain, cassette. You can use the crank set, but may have to

change the rings, although many times you do not have to do so.

I'd like to upgrade my wheels this year and have a couple questions on

what else I need to consider before I do it.

It seems a majority of the wheelsets take 10 speed cassettes. My bike

currently has a 9 speed / 105 drivetrain. Aside from getting the wheels

and a new cassette, are there any other parts I would be forced to upgrade.

Rear derailleur? Shifters? Chain?

I don't want to bite off more than I can (financially) chew and I'm

curious if moving to a 10 speed cassette will ripple through the rest of

the bike.

   Thanks,

   Mike
