I wholeheartedly agree. The real leverage is through the advertisers, if
you can get the people that provide the income to the station involved
things will change - sometimes quite quickly.
A few years ago in Bend one of the stations thought it would be a great
idea to bring LAs "Mark & Brian" to the local airwaves. They lasted
exactly one day - the the amount of time it took the stations number one
advertiser to realize it's customers were very displeased.

I respectfully disagree. No, I don't suggest calling the show to try to
argue with these people. You're correct that it doesn't do any good.
But, there IS a way to deal with it, which is as Steve suggests: letting
the
management of the station and the advertisers know that you find these
types
of comments unacceptable. Face it, money makes the world go 'round.
Endanger the money flow (ie. tell the advertisers you won't shop with
them
if they allow this type of behavior to go unchecked) and watch some
change
happen. If enough people write to them, they WILL listen.
I sent my letter to the advertisers. I hope a few more people will as
well.
