Schreck, George
The fact is that these DJ's are recognized as morons, and usually the
people who listen are morons as well (apologies to whomever did listen
enough to report the event, I assume you were scanning for some music).
There is little hope of changing their tiny retarded minds, and I doubt
that many people pay much attention to them. While I like to fight
back, there is little point in battling there ineffectual mental
midgets, as it is the attention on which they thrive. This little OBRA
e-mail discourse over the afternoon probably represents more attention
to their show than they have ever had, and I would not want them to
think that anyone actually sensible paid attention to their show other
than the usual cadre of idiots that call in.

While I'll agree the comments were inappropriate (from what I've heard
2nd hand). I'm not sure how a boycott to KATU is a solution. My wife is
a reporter at KATU and has reported on a number of bike issues which
have been fair and good for the community.

Dear customers of Entercom:
I am sorry to say that due to the crass and
irresponsible comment of hosts on "the Buzz" I will be urging everyone I
know to boycott Safeway and KATU. Hosts engaged in an attack on
bicyclists this morning. Bicyclists face insensitive motorist every day
in Portland and knuckle heads opining that bicycles have no place on the
roads do not help. This is not about being PC or being "not funny".
This is about contributing to ignorance and sentiment that e! ndangers
peoples lives.
Portland was just voted the most bicycle
friendly city in America. Metro is spending two million on a campaign to
reduce traffic congestion. Obesity is a growing problem in Oregon but
bicycle ridership is up 300% in the past 5 years. And here among all
this good news some bad public citizens spouting their hateful remarks.
Please remind Entercom that they have a
responsibility that goes with the use of public airways. An on the Air
apology and some equal time spend on encouraging pubic awareness about
cycling by Entercom and the hosts of the Buzz would go a long way to
repairing the damage.
Sincerely- Jake Bigham, Portland
