Mtn bike category vs Road Cat

One more vote for the old way. I'm a Sport and a Cat 4. If/when I'm ready
to upgrade to Expert, I bet I'll be close to ready for Cat 3, as well.

But I have to ask... what is the correlation used for, anyway?

Likewise, I race Sport MTB--and 1 or 2 times a year I do a road race at Cat 5. I cannot keep up with the Cat 4.

Mountain biking is much different than road riding. If it is a decent mountain bike course--and has some technical sections--a Cat 1 or 2 road racer that only has raced 1 or 2 mtb races in his or her life--will only be a sport level.

Why try to equate the 2--they are not the same type of racing?

I race sport in MTB. I will do some road races this year at Cat 5. I have
never done a road race and I can't keep up with the Cat 4 riders here in
town. Is this going to be a problem?

Leave it like in the past please, sport cat 3-------I do not think a
sport mtn biker can keep up with a cat 3. Not to say that an up and
coming sport who is ready to upgrade to expert and then they would be
equal to a cat 3. Has there been a problem in the past? I am sure not
ready to go to cat 2, ask my friends.
Thanks
Mike
