Challenge!
Dear Candi,
Greetings! The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) is proud to introduce the
2006 LIVESTRONG Challenge presented by Nike, a series of fundraising events
in five cities across the country supporting the LAF's mission to inspire
and empower people affected by cancer.
The LIVESTRONG Challenge includes a bike ride (10, 40, 70 or 100 miles), 10K
run and 5K run/walk - allowing people of all ages and physical abilities to
participate and raise funds for cancer survivors.
The 2006 LIVESTRONG Challenge will take place in:
Southern California - June 25
Portland, OR - July 30
Denver, CO - August 20
Philadelphia, PA - September 10
Austin, Texas - October 8
We've heard wonderful things about the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association and
we would love your participation in the LIVESTRONG Challenge Portland!
There are numerous ways for you and your team to get involved. I have
attached for you the LIVESTRONG Challenge logo and email/newsletter template
text. I'm not sure how you communicate with your members, but we would be so
excited if you would send an email blast or put information in your team
newsletter about participation in the Challenge. Website promotion is
another great way to get the word out, so if you're interested in banner
advertisements, please let me know and I can supply these to you.
We're thrilled to have the addition of a team component to our event this
year. You can create a LIVESTRONG Challenge team and encourage friends,
family, co-workers and teammates to register under your team, raise funds in
their local communities and participate in the local Challenge to support
the LAF's advocacy, public health and research programs. We would love your
team's participation in the LIVESTRONG Challenge where you can personally do
something bold in the face of cancer!
Funds raised through the LIVESTRONG Challenge will enable the LAF to
continue helping cancer survivors across the nation with the physical,
emotional and practical challenges of cancer. Since its inception in 1997,
the LAF has invested nearly $9 million in cancer survivorship programs and
research in California, Oregon, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Texas.
With personal fundraising coaching, great awards and incentives, an expo on
Friday, the Challenge event on Sunday and the Post-Event Party afterwards,
the LIVESTRONG Challenge is going to be both fun and rewarding! We look
forward to your participation and to working with you on helping to make it
a success!
