highway bike ban meeting this Friday

Hey folks,

If you're concerned about a proposal within ODOT to prohibit bikes on certain stretches of the Portland area highways, please consider showing up to City Hall this Friday, April 7th for the quarterly meeting of the Oreg. Ped/Bike Advisory Committee.

This is a great opportunity for us to educate ODOT staffers about our rights to the road and the role of bicycles as a viable mode of transport (vs. something they can just ban without giving reason). I especially urge you to attend if you ride or commute on Hwy 26 b/w the Zoo and Goose Hollow (this is one of the segments they want to ban).

You can get the full low-down in an article I just published about this:

Meeting details:
Lovejoy Room, Portland City Hall
1221 SW 4th Avenue, Portland
Bike ban proposal presentation - 11:30
Public comment period - 12:15-12:45.
