2006 Mt. Hood Cycling Classic Update

Mt. Hood Cycling Classic

2006-04-05

Fellow Northwest Riders,

I just wanted to give all of you a quick snap shot of were we are at and remind you it is time to sign up for this year's Mt. Hood Cycling Classic presented by Full Sail Brewing.

UPDATES

First off we have had and are having one heck of a snow year this year. That being said there is still 10 feet of snow up on the first two climbs on the Three Summits Road Race. Do not count this stage out however. We are currently working with the different road agencies to get it plowed. Maybe costly but we will do everything to get that thing open. How cool would that be to race through huge drifts of snow in June! Unless of course it snows again.

Registration is up by 20% over last year at this time. This means if you are a CAT 3 or Pro 1/2 man you better get signed up this month. Last year the Pro 1/2 field filled 3 weeks out and the CAT 3 field filled 4 weeks out. If you don't register in April don't plan on getting in. We are expecting a possibility of a full field for 4's and masters also. There is no question there will be a 3/4 women's category. Interest and registrations are way up this year for that field. I would like to see more Oregon women though. If you are out there come do this race!

Lodging is going to be tight in Hood River. Cooper Spur filled up in February and Hood River Inn Best Western, our lodging sponsor, is fast on its way to being full. Make reservations now if you have not already. Their number is 541-386-2200. Be sure and tell them you are in for the race as they have rooms blocked for the event (otherwise you will be told they are full). Also be sure and tell them thanks, they are a big supporter/sponsor of the event.

More updates will be coming in the next couple of weeks. Be sure and check our web site for all the latest info and the race bible closer to the event at www.mthoodcyclingclassic.com

The whole crew and I are all really excited to once again host this race. We appreciate tremendously your interest and participation in this event. I hope we see all of you in June!

Sincerely,
Chad Sperry
