I think this group tends to pile on a bit too much, and I realize I have
been one of the offenders from time to time.

Because perhaps the threat of public humiliation is the only thing that
will cause some people to think twice before jeopardizing an important

Thanks George,
That's exactly the point. I never said that public urination is not an

is?

Well get over it. We already had a crucifixation this weekend. The
offender was punished and we do not need all the other intermeddlers
piling on.

I agree with Doug. We're pissing away way too much time on this topic.

I'm probably not the only one on this list that feels the point has been made and we should move on from here. I'm sure the person who pee'd feels as terrible as they should and that the public flogging is overduing it a little bit. As far as we all know, no race venues have been lost as a result of anyone's actions.

Please go back to work or else I will tell your bosses.

Seems like this problem never goes away. I saw a guy get a 3 minute time penalty for peeing on the starting line at the Columbia Plateau one year. OOOOHH! That's like giving a $50.00 fine for a DWI. I almost peed on the line myself.

A 60 day licence suspension would be a fitting punishment for public urination.

I gaurantee you that whoever offended all of OBRA is hoping that those who
know his name will keep it to themselves. Just the threat or fear of
exposure is probably enough to prevent this individual from repeating the
offense...unless he is just an uncaring idiot!

We've lost race venues for just this reason; someone decided to stop
during the 'cross race at Lake Oswego Junior high and pee on the side of
the school. Right in front of the window. Of a room full of teachers
having a meeting. No more races there.

And yes, there were plenty of honey pots right around the corner.

Because perhaps the threat of public humiliation is the only thing that
will cause some people to think twice before jeopardizing an important
race venue? Think about it, would YOU want to be known as the guy that
cause cyclists to be banned from ?

I think it's pretty crappy to pee outside when there are restrooms
available.

(pun fully intended.)

All I think Mike is trying to say is that the person was punished by the
DQ and at that point, there is no point in have the entire OBRA
community pursue it further with respect to the individual. I think we
all agree that if there are bathrooms available they should be used.

J. Michael,
This is a significant issue. Race venues have been lost in the past due
to littering and or urinating in public. I care and I know others care.
There is no excuse at a venue where we even have several flush toilets
in a couple of locations, not just a couple of out houses that serve
both male and female populations.

This is not about public humiliation. This is about have a wonderful
variety of venues and a cycling community that values what we have here
in the great NW.
