Probably the Goldendale loops, built by Sam Hill in the 19th century
to test out various methods of paving for his road building projects.
I don't think there are 30 miles of decent (maybe more like 10), but
enough to make your hands cramp from holding the brakes.

I have heard from a fellow cyclist (roadie) that there is an awesome decent
just north of Goldendale. I think it's a 60 loop (if this is the loop I am
thinking of). The decent is good enough that you don't want to do it in the
cool am. You will be very cold. But climbing it is just the opposite, you
don't want to do it in the heat of a very hot day.

Lorraine, please give us the route and then I can get some riders together.

Golden Event Planning - Lorraine Reynolds

Greetings from Goldendale...BIKE FOR THE "HEALTH" OF IT!

My name is Lorraine Reynolds and I am the Event Director for the City of Goldendale. We are desperately trying to promote our little town, so next month we are hosting our first Bike Ride. The Klickitat Valley Hospital Memorial Foundation is sponsoring the "Bike For The "HEALTH" Of It" ride on Saturday May 13th. We have one mountain bike and two road bike rides available. We could certainly use your clubs support. The wildflowers are in bloom and the rides will be spectacular. The Cattlewomen and the Centerville Grange ladies will be doing all the cooking...homemade pies and all! I know it is a long way to Goldendale...but the ride and the food will be worth it.

Please forward this e-mail onto other members of your club members. We have plenty of RV parking, camping and motels available.

For more information, you can go to www.cityofgoldendale.com

Thanks so much,
