from john's landing/macadam: i've taken barbur to hwy 10 all the way out to where jenkins estate is located. where there's no shoulder, i haven't had any problems. the traffic excuses you for being there.

i've also taken barbur 99w out to sherwood. it's just okay, but doable.

and then i re-read your post. no pleasant route that i know of. sorry.
