Columbia Hills...Come and Bike Anytime!
Dalles Mountain Road will take you to the top of Columbia Hills. Head up
before sunrise, and catch the pre-dawn glow as day breaks. Then watch the
sun rise over the Columbia River with the rolling foothills of the Gorge
spread out before you. Scattered clouds create drama. Fog is soft, and the
subtle outline of foothills appears out of the mist. Wildflowers paint the
canvas of landscape with brilliant colors. In the flowered meadows, you'll
see turkeys, baby marmots and the fawns of black-tail deer. Deer along the
route are not tame but are accustomed to humans. On a clear day, Mount Adams
Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier all will be visible.
