Re: Signs as souvenirs

Maybe they can be tethered to something (signpost, electrical pole...) with a cable or come with a spike that can be driven into the roadside gravel to make them at least a little harder to steal.

Maybe we should rig the signs with exploding die packs like they use in bank robberies...

Kids on skateboards stole a sign from the Silverton Crit course a few years ago. You never know!

Just wanted to let you folks know that we had two signs disappear from
the road side at this weekend's Cherry Pie. At Independence and Ryals,
one sign went away, and the sign crew put up another. It, too,
disappeared.

If you see anyone removing signs, please get a plate number and vehicle
description (assuming they're not on foot, riding a bike or airborne).

The sexy fabric "Bike Event Ahead" signs run $400-800...(I don't know
yet, but it's a lot).

The OBRA metal signs and tripods are in the neighborhood of $100/set to
replace. We lost one of each of these types of signs.

I know other promoters have had equipment removed and it has really hurt
their ability to financially justify putting on these events.

If you see signs being taken down, please feel free to write down plate
numbers, descriptions, etc, and shoot them to the promoter.

Thanks for your participation at the Cherry Pie, and we'll see you at
the races!
