Were they Zipps? Because those are for lightweights only. Notice how they pucker at the spokes from tension that is barley adequate. On the other hand, I have seen FSA carbon wheels fracture from impact or crash and still finish a race.
That's just my personal observation.

I know I have an unpopular opinion, but after seeing the carnage from last year's Banana Belt, I'll never ride carbon wheels in a mass start event. I saw a guy hit a pothole right in front of me, and his wheel literally folded 90 degrees. While I've broke metal wheels, I've never broke them like that.

Like the original poster, I'm close to 200 lbs. Sometimes being big means you shouldn't ride all the trick stuff out there.
